International Status

Pleckgate is very pleased to announce we have been accredited once more for the prestigious British Council International Award. This award is given tothose schools that have worked hard to promote global learning. Projects leading to this have included staff visits from our partner schools in India, project exchanges from a variety of curriculum areas, email and letter exchanges and Skype communications.  It also helps school in applying for projects and funding from The British Council (the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations).  A big thank you to all the pupils, staff and parents who have helped us with this achievement.

Pleckgate continues long lasting international links with schools in Southern India, South Africa, and Uganda. We have also formed recent links with schools in New Delhi, São Paulo and Tanzania. A weekly International Club continues to assist other schools around the globe to achieve their own international status. Plans for future teacher and student exchanges with our link schools are ongoing.

International Trips

Here at Pleckgate pupils have many international opportunities including a variety of trips abroad.

In February 2014 a group of students and staff enjoyed a once in a lifetime trip to South Africa.

This was a fantastic opportunity to see both the wonderful tourist sights that Cape Town has to offer but also to see behind those tourist attractions and get to grips with the real South Africa.  Highlights included a spectacular visit to the top of Table Mountain, and a visit to Seal Island (with sights of several thousand seals, a Bryde’s Whale and dolphins).  The party also had an exciting trip to a small game reserve where pupils were able to see African wildlife in its natural surrounds including some of the ‘big five’ animals such as lion, buffalo, elephants and rhino. Students also visited local schools and had a tour of the Siviwe Township.
