We were delighted to host 18 science trainee teachers from the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) for a dedicated Science Subject Day.
The trainees spent the day taking part in a range of sessions focused on developing effective approaches to teaching science in secondary classrooms. The programme included professional discussions around subject-specific pedagogy, followed by practical sessions designed to support high-quality delivery of GCSE science content.
Practical activities included carrying out food tests and making salts, providing valuable insight into managing practical work safely, effectively and with high levels of engagement.
It was a pleasure to welcome such enthusiastic trainee teachers into our Science Department. The day offered an excellent opportunity to share good practice and showcase high-quality science teaching at Pleckgate High School.
