Year 9 pupils were invited to attend the AI-Prentice MEGA Day, hosted by In4Group in partnership with Blackburn College.
The day began with pupils exploring the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, encouraging them to think critically about real-world challenges and how technology could be used to address them. Pupils then worked in teams to develop a business plan for an AI-powered tool designed to support one or more of these global goals.
As part of the process, pupils used a range of AI tools, including Midjourney, PartyRock, and Open Processing, to help design prototypes and visualise their ideas. This hands-on approach gave pupils valuable insight into how artificial intelligence can be applied creatively and practically within a business context.
The day concluded with a series of business pitches, where each team confidently presented their idea to a panel of judges. Although our pupils narrowly missed first place and finished as runners-up, they demonstrated excellent teamwork, creativity, and resilience throughout the competition.
This was a highly successful and enriching experience, giving pupils first-hand exposure to computer science, business planning, and artificial intelligence, one of the fastest-growing and most in-demand areas of technology today. We are extremely proud of how all pupils represented the school and rose to the challenge.
