Our Open Evening was a huge success as hundreds of prospective pupils and their families had a look around our outstanding school.
We have been oversubscribed for the last few years and it was great to see so many families chatting to our staff and pupils about life at Pleckgate.
In the English Department, there was a Gothic theme as part of the curriculum in Year 8 is about Gothic writing. Mr Leigh and Miss Loonat were making word potions, there was also a Shakespeare Curse activity with plenty of books available to look at.
In Science, Year 8 Arkham showed off the methane bubbles experiment, pupils could try to fit various organs in a body as well as molecules and more. In Maths, there were puzzles, games and problems to solve!
History and Sociology were showing off their work, including looking at the history of Blackburn, the History Book Club and the editions of Pleckgate i magazine, produced by pupils. Religious artefacts were on view in Religion and World Views while, in Geography, pupils could try and match the flag to the country, among other activities.
Fruit cocktails were carefully created in Catering, there was a chance to try out ukuleles in music, have a go at badminton in PE as well as sawing in Design Technology.
We also highlighted our commitment to the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme.
