Pleckgate’s Annie: A Show to Remember!

It wasn’t a ‘Hard Knock Life’ for all the pupils and staff involved in our amazing production of ‘Annie’ – they loved it!
From Khadeeja’s stunning performance in the main role, to Chloe’s superb singing as Miss Hannigan, Subhan’s excellent Oliver Warbucks and all the pupils who stepped onto the stage and worked so hard behind it – it was a truly memorable show.
Miss Bland, Mrs Birbeck and Miss Jones – along with others – put in such a lot of time and effort behind the scenes to make it one of Pleckgate’s best productions yet.
Mrs Birbeck said: “It’s been absolutely amazing. They are a fantastic bunch of children and we have created a lovely community feel. We have had to move the cast around and everyone has just adapted to their roles and supported and helped each other. I am so proud of everyone who performed and everyone who helped out behind the scenes. It’s been brilliant and I have seen the pupils grow in confidence.”
Khadeejah said: “I have loved every minute of being Annie. It was great acting and performing in front of an audience and I put my heart and soul into it.
“Seeing everyone’s faces when we were acting and sang was such a lovely experience. I want to do it again!”
Year 10 Chloe was one of the stars of the show and she said: “I loved it. I was in Oliver! last year and it’s helped me grow in confidence. Annie was also quite educational, I like American history and I learnt quite a bit about it!”
Subhan said: “It was great being able to get into character and play a rich man saving Annie from the orphanage!”
Summer, who plays orphan Kate, said: “I enjoyed it as it got rid of a lot of my energy! I was nervous performing but it was fun.”
Layla, who played a number of roles, said: “I have made new friends through this. It wasn’t as scary performing in front of people as I thought it would be.”
Salma, who had two roles, said: “I like singing and I like the process where you change into a character quickly.”
Mahek, another who played a couple of characters, said: “I enjoyed the atmosphere and the experience of performing in front of an audience.”
All the money raised from the show as  donated to children’s charity Barnado’s.
