Pupils showed off their considerable musical talents at our ‘Spring Concert.’
Led by Head of Music Miss Jones, Year 7-10 pupils took to the stage to put on a performance for parents, pupils and teachers, including Head Teacher Mrs McGinty.
The Vocal Club led the way, performing a number of songs, including two from ‘Wicked’ and also Bette Midler’s ‘Wind Beneath My Wings.’
There were piano solos where Year 8s displayed the high standards they have reached in their piano lessons and assessments. Hussain performed a guitar solo with the Harry Potter theme while Subhan got the audience clapping with his version of BoyWithUke’s Nosedive.
There were duets and solos, including a performance of ‘Tomorrow’ from Annie, which will be our next school performance, and ‘No Time To Die’ by Billy Eilish. Pleckgate’s rock band showed their skills with ‘I Lose Control’ by Teddy Swims.
Miss Jones praised the Spring Concert performers. She said: “The Year 8 pianists have shown what they have learnt in their lessons – it’s not just performing but hand positions, reading music and keeping it fluent. It’s not easy and they are all doing brilliantly.
“It’s difficult to play the guitar and Hussain showed how talented he is. Subhan was convinced he couldn’t sing a few weeks ago – now we can’t stop him!”
