Our Year 7 cricket team made a memorable debut in their first-ever fixture, securing a commanding 46-run victory over Witton Park High School.
Batting first, the team set an impressive total, displaying excellent shot selection and sharp running between the wickets. The bowlers then rose to the occasion, restricting Witton Park to with disciplined bowling and committed fielding.
This outstanding team performance marks the beginning of what looks to be a very promising cricket journey for this new group of players. With more pupils keen to join the squad and plenty of talent on show, the future certainly looks bright for Year 7 cricket at Pleckgate.

Following a mixed season last year, the Year 8 team have been training hard to refine their skills, build teamwork, and develop greater consistency—and their progress was evident in a closely contested game this week.
Despite a narrow defeat, the team’s improvement was clear to see. The players approached the game with maturity, resilience, and positivity, taking the message of “lose and learn” to heart. With continued effort and more match experience, this team is set to bounce back stronger in the weeks ahead.
