Our Year 9 & 10 cricket team continued their hardball season this week with an exhilarating match against QEGS that came right down to the final over.
Chasing a competitive total, the team showed determination and skill throughout the innings. With 13 runs needed from the final over, the pressure was on—but Shaheer rose to the occasion, launching the first delivery for a huge six. The boundary was met with rapturous applause from his teammates, injecting hope and excitement into the closing moments of the game.
However, credit must be given to the QEGS bowler, whose tactical awareness made all the difference. Adjusting his angle of delivery and targeting the longer boundary, he successfully restricted the scoring, leading QEGS to a narrow 4-run victory.
Despite the close defeat, it was another solid performance from a team that continues to grow in confidence and cohesion. With the Lancashire Cup, Borough Cup, and Borough Windball League still to come, the boys are showing promising signs of a strong season ahead.
Well done to all involved for representing the school with skill, spirit, and sportsmanship.
