Year 7 rounded off an amazing first season by clinching victory in a thrilling League Play-Off Cup final against fierce local rivals TIBHS, with Musa scoring both our goals.
The event was organised by Mr Pickup for the whole Blackburn and Darwen borough in conjunction with Blackburn Community Trust who generously provided the officials, trophies and medals. Pleckgate started on the front foot and centre forward Musa scored an early goal to settle any nerves.
Despite being well on top, Pleckgate could not secure the second goal that their dominant play deserved. The midfield engine room of Adam and Muhammed dominated the game while dynamic wingers Mohammed Almeer and the tireless Essa terrorised the TIBHS fullbacks and this continued after half-time with Omer. Ibby and Muhammad carried on where they left off.
There was stout defending from Rayyan and Rafay to keep Pleckgate’s clean sheet intact while goalkeeper Azeem made some superb saves in the blustery conditions. Rohaan sparked many of the Pleckgate attacks with his powerful mazy runs.
Musa grabbed the second goal while Adam crashed a header against the bar that would have secured a more dominant scoreline that our performance deserved. The team collected their medals from the Blackburn Community Trust and joyfully lifted the trophy aloft to rapturous celebrations.
