Rethwan H proved four-midable as our Year 11s celebrated a 4-2 victory over big rivals Blackburn Central.
Games between the teams are always entertaining and Blackburn Central raced into a two-goal lead. However, Pleckgate then woke up with electrifying forward Rethwan beating the Central defence twice with two clinical finishes to make it all-square at the break.
Mr Haworth’s rousing half time team talk and a tactical switch saw Pleckgate make an stunning start to the second half to turn the game around. Rethwan produced another two superb finishes to give Pleckgate a 4-2 lead and, with an injection of young talent, Pleckgate dominated the second half with the Central keeper keeping the score down.
A rare defensive lapse from a corner saw Central pull a goal back to set up a nervy finish but a superb save from Pleckgate’s Zak G helped to give his side a memorable win in the Year 11 Championship as supported by Blackburn Rovers Sports College.
